There's a particular discourse in and out of the digital world that all this social media that everybody is adapting to quite rapidly is actually not making people more social, but actually creating more distance. I've been playing around with this stuff for some time, and all I can share is my experience, which has been an adventure in creating community.
Last night was a perfect example. I went to downtown L.A. to meet in person with Detroit blogger friend Mom Zombie. You never know how these things are going to go when you actually meet, I suppose it's our version of internet dating, but before I knew it hours had passed. I had a great time and feel I have made a new friend, a real in-person kind of friend. So take that naysayers! Thanks Mom Zombie for being so great. I look forward to the next time we can get together. Hopefully at a Zen retreat, where I'll keep you away from the espresso.
..And make sure to add her blog to your list.
Wow! Thanks for the props, the links, and an amazing meet-up. Check out my review, which says in 5,000 words what you manage to capture here in one paragraph. And yes, a Zen retreat someday.
